Summary |
 |
| Although trace
element signatures and elemental ratios have been used for source
identification, research is practically non-existent for the use of
the ratios of As, Se, and Sb species in wet deposition to locate
pollutant sources. A preconcentration method is being developed for
the simultaneous determinations of selected trace elements in wet
deposition, and a method for the identification of various species of
arsenic in samples of wet deposition. Methods developed include
preconcentration of samples to be analyzed using NAA, as well as a
solid phase extraction method for the isolation of organically bound
As. These methods will be applied for the determination of various As
species in wet deposition samples from the Sudbury sites.
